AMP Agglomeration drums have been designed for the agglomeration of fine to medium grain size dry minerals. With the addition of liquid reagents, they produce uniform agglomerates which increase the extraction efficiency of the subsequent leaching process, primarily due to the production of:
- Stable agglomerates poorly degradable, which means higher percolation.
- Uniform agglomerates with more contact surface between reactive and agglomerate, reducing the creation of preferential pathways of leaching solution in the leach heap.
They are particularly suitable for the agglomeration of copper and gold ores.
The drums are equipped with internal lifting bars of rectangular section, strategically positioned within the cylinder to generate a rolling motion of thematerial, which together with the moisture generated by the reagents introduced in the feed zone, produce uniform and consistent agglomerates. The speed of rotation, the lifters and their positioning, are custom designed, according to the nature and particle size of the mineral to agglomerate, and the residence time required to produce the agglomerates.
The drum shell is constructed from thick rolled steel sheet with strict quality control to withstand the high mechanical stresses which it is subjected to. The rubber liner is vulcanized to the drum shell, forming a completely watertight surface.
The drive system comprises direct-driven wheels fitted with high load capacity commercial tyres with high durability, and forming independent drive unit assemblies. A set of guide rollers prevents axial drum movement. All drive components are mounted on a strong and robust base frame constructed of rolled sections, with a device to change inclination from 0º to 10º
The agglomeration drum is supplied as a compact and complete unit, including the feed chute, discharge chute with inspection door and venting, and acid dosage nozzles in the feed zone. The rotational speed of the drum can be varied electronically by means of a frequency converter, which also enables electronic soft start (optional).
