This process involves two fundamental parameters such as the necessary retention time that defines the tank size and the energy required to create an axial-radial alternate stirring flow of the pulp which minimizes abrasion wear and provides the adequate particle contact.
The operation requires a solids concentration by weight in the range of 70 to 80%, depending on the type of material, to achieve maximum particle-to-particle contact. Depending on the process variables and the treatment capacity required, a configuration of modular cells interconnected with each other is specified, together with the number and type of propellers, and the power demand.

Tank fabricated in mild painted steel with exterior protection paint. Configuration in 2, 4 or 6 cell bank construction, equipped with vertical stirrer of double or triple set of propellers on one axle, driven by electric motor with transmission by belts / pulleys and mounted on a reinforced structure at the top of the tank.
The tank, impellers and shaft sleeves are protected with abrasion resistant rubber coating or other materials to resist abrasion and corrosion.

A detection and measure system integrates a torque indicator to detect the stirring drive resisting torque signal to allow control of solids concentration by regulating the addition of the required liquid phase during the process.
Research and Testing:
AMPmineral has the facilities to perform laboratory-scale attrition tests in order to determine process feasibility and remove contaminants from different materials, which will conduct to obtain data on industrial scale basis for the specification and sizing of the appropriate cell configuration.
