WASHING DRUMS - HYDROFLUX®
Hydroflux® Washing Drums are designed as heavy-duty equipment, for the vigorous washing of coarse/medium size materials - mineral ores, rocks and aggregates, with the presence of clay-based agglomerates and/or contaminated by clay or other contaminants. They are used in a variety of applications, such as: washing of low-quality aggregates with adhered clay and high soluble material content; liberation of clay and pulping of clay agglomerates; and the treatment of porous minerals.
The Hydroflux ® Washing Drum consists of a tyre-mounted rotating steel cylinder, equipped with internal lifters and blades to thoroughly scrub the feed material in an intense action.
The wet or dry raw material to be treated is fed into the drum and combined with water for pre-washing and pulping to obtain a homogenized mixture. The lifting bars and blades, specifically configured to suit the duty, lift and drop the aggregate in a cascade manner and advance it within the drum, releasing the fine particles and clay adhering to the coarse fractions.
The stresses to which the material is subjected inside the drum, a combination of friction generated within the aggregate itself, and between the drum wall and the internal components, produce a self-grinding effect in the coarser fractions, which helps break down agglomerates or clods, especially when the drum is full.
The washing or breakdown effect is directly related to the duration of time the material remains inside the drum, with the throughput capacity decreasing as the retention time increases, being adjusted depending on the condition of the material to be processed.
