The Stockholm Water Company has selected us to improve the filtration of drinking water by optimizing its production processes in the removal of clays, organic and inert matter from the sands they use for the filtration of drinking water. That is why during the last months AMP has supplied and launched two plants specifically designed according to the strict requirements of the client. The first of these facilities is composed of a compact AMP HYDROSET ® model HSL 10 / 15-50.7-22, powered by a hopper belt and has been located outside one of the drinking water treatment centers.
The second installation is composed of a curved grid plus a compact plant and is fed by pumping. This project has been an important design challenge given the small size of the space where it is going to be located and that the plant had to be mobile to move along the narrow corridor on whose side the different filters are located.
The results obtained in the initial tests have been more than satisfactory. Specifically, in the outdoor plant it has been possible to adjust the granulometric curve of an origin in which we had a 0/200 mm material at 0.2 / 4 mm, achieving, through the combined use of the hydrocyclone and the drainer with irrigation, by on the one hand remove all pollutants from the sands, and on the other, optimize the porosity of the filter, improving water quality and reducing processing times.
In the indoor plant it has been possible to adjust the granulometric curve, starting from a 0/4 mm to a 0.6 / 4mm and excellent levels of organic matter removal thanks to the use of the Curved Grid.
