Glomex Agglomerator Cylinders

AMPmineral’s Agglomerating Cylinders are equipment designed for dry agglomeration of medium and fine grain size minerals. By adding liquid reagents, they produce uniform agglomerates “glomers” that allow to increase the extractive yield of the subsequent leaching process, mainly due to the production of:

  • Stable agglomerates with low degradability, which means higher percolability.
  • Uniform agglomerates with greater agglomerate-reagent contact surface, which reduce the creation of preferential pathways for the leaching solution in the leaching heaps.

This equipment is particularly suitable for agglomeration of copper and gold ores.

Functioning

The agglomerating cylinder is internally equipped with lifting bars of rectangular section adequately spaced so that the rotation of the cylinder generates a rolling movement of the material, which together with the wetting caused by the reagents provided in the feeding zone, produces the formation of a uniform and consistent “glomerate”. The speed of rotation of the agglomerating cylinder, the section of the elevators and their spacing are studied in each specific case, according to the nature and size of the mineral particles to be agglomerated, and the residence time necessary to produce the “glomerate”.
The washing or disintegration effect is a direct function of the residence time of the aggregate inside the cylinder, decreasing the treatment capacity the longer the residence time, depending on the quality of the material to be treated.

Construction

The agglomerating cylinder ferrule is made of thick rolled steel plate with a rigorous quality control, in order to conveniently withstand the high mechanical stresses to which it is subjected. The inner elastomer lining is vulcanized to the ferrule plate, thus constituting a totally watertight surface.
The drive system of the agglomerating cylinder consists of directly driven wheels fitted with commercial tires of high load capacity and long life, forming independent driving and carrying units. A set of guide wheels prevents axial displacement of the cylinder. All the driving elements are mounted on a sturdy frame made of laminated profiles, provided with a variable inclination device between 0º and 10º.
The agglomerating cylinder is supplied as a compact and complete unit, including the feed chute, discharge box with inspection door and gas outlet, and acid dosing flutes in the feed zone. The rotational speed of the agglomerating cylinder can be varied electronically on the basis of a frequency converter, which also allows a soft start (optional).

Research and testing

AMPmineral realiza ensayos de aglomeración en planta piloto para determinar las variables del proceso, lo que permitirá especificar el cilindro aglomerador más adecuado a la operación donde sea aplicado.
