Attrition cells
AMP offers Attrition Cells specially designed for the disintegration of particles through the action of an intense mixing of the pulp at high speed, which causes an attrition effect between the treated particles themselves.Attrition Cells
Two fundamental parameters are involved in this process, such as the retention time required, which defines the size of the tank, and the energy required to create an alternating axial-radial agitation flow of the slurry that minimizes abrasion wear and provides adequate particle-to-particle contact.
The operation requires a solids concentration in the order of 70 to 80% by weight, depending on the type of material, to achieve maximum particle-on-particle contact. Depending on the process variables and the required treatment capacity, a configuration of interconnected modular cells is specified, with the number and type of propellers as well as the power required.
Applications
- Removal of iron and alumina contaminants in glass sands.
- Suppression of clay agglomerates in sands.
- Surface cleaning and polishing of particles.
- Washing of plastics for recycling.
- Exfoliation of clays.
- Release of contaminants in soil cleaning.attrition cells.
Construction
Steel tank with exterior protective paint on 2, 4 or 6-cell banks, equipped with vertical agitator with double or triple set of propellers on one shaft and driven by electric motor and belt/pulley transmission, mounted on a reinforced structure on the top of the tank.
The tank, agitators and shaft sleeves are lined with rubber or other materials resistant to abrasion and corrosion.attrition Cells
Control of operation
A system for detecting and measuring the torque generated by the agitation drive allows the operation to control the solids concentration by regulating the addition of the liquid phase required in the process.attrition cells.

Research and testing
We have the means to perform attrition tests at laboratory scale, in order to determine the feasibility of a process or to remove contaminants from a material, which will allow obtaining data at industrial scale to specify and size the appropriate cell configuration.attrition cells
